Communal Spaces
Interior design can be defined as the art of planning and supervising the design and execution of architectural interiors and their furnishings to create a more aesthetically pleasing environment. However, when designing for dementia the process becomes more complex. There are several factors we keep in mind when designing for persons with dementia. We have developed a ‘Way Finding Strategy’ specifically to help the residents of Villa Anna Teresa navigate their way around the community, especially focusing on the corridors. Each floor has a different feature colour, with landmark objects at decision-making points along the corridors, this will help residents living with dementia to find their way from one location to another.
The reception areas were designed with luxury & hospitality in mind, the initial welcome the reception area gives is one of class & elegance. However, this is home to the residents of Villa Anna Teresa, so as you progress through the doors into the residential wing the interior & atmosphere changes, to a warm & welcoming environment that the residents would be happy & comfortable to spend their days in.
